In Memoriam Allister McLagan Stewart It is with much sadness that I inform the members of the Australian Highland cattle Society of Allister’s passing away at his home at Mortlake on the 1st of November 2011. Allister will be remembered by the AHCS for the love of the Highland Breed and the dedication and formation founder of the Australian Highland cattle Society. Through his interest in the breed he touched many within the breed and helped many breeders start off on the road of a Highland cattle Fold owner. I first saw Allister on TV on the ABC back in 1988. He was showing a TV crew around his Fold, and discussing the formation of a society to register Highland Cattle. I spoke shortly after the TV article to Allister wanting more information. I had at that time only seen one other animal and knew I wanted to get involved with the breed. If it was not for the efforts of Allister I may have never personally had Highland Cattle. Allister was a past President and council member in the earlier days of the society and a life member.
